I hope you are excited about learning this year. We will be mastering many math skills you already know and learning many more new concepts. Also you will be doing several projects for our class which I hope you will enjoy.
Blended Classes
Caleb was really enjoying his test today!
The past 2 years our Flipped Classes were very successful. The students enjoyed watching the lessons at home and being able to learn more at school. We were able to do many more creative activities during class and I had so much more one on one time with each student.
This year instead of "flipping" one class, I will be using a method called blended learning. Blended learning allows so much more time for teacher-student interaction and individual help for each student in the class. It also allows the class to delve into more critical thinking activities. This method involves students watching a video of the teacher's lesson outside of the classroom; then classroom time is used to reinforce the lesson and apply more critical thinking skills. For students with math difficulty, more time is available for one-on-one teacher interaction.
There will only be occasional videos--not all of the time. Students may watch at home, or they may come in after school or during lunch and use the iPad lab.
Videos will be made available on this website. These are also helpful for those students who are absent or need review before tests. I will put videos of most all lessons as we begin each chapter. If you prefer, send a USB drive to me and I can place the videos there.
